TY - JOUR T1 - PNeumococcal sepsis and pneumonia in the neonate AU - Moriartey RR, Finer NN Y1 - 1979/06/01 N1 - 10.1001/archpedi.1979.02130060041007 JO - American Journal of Diseases of Children SP - 601 EP - 602 VL - 133 IS - 6 N2 - • Two neonates had early onset Diplococcus pneumoniae septicemia and pneumonia. Both recovered after intensive respiratory and antibiotic therapy, although a review of the literature indicates that early pneumococcal septicemia has been associated with an extremely high mortality. Pneumococcal septicemia in a one-year period accounted for 12% of all documented neonatal bacteremias. This may indicate an increasing incidence of this organism in newborns.(Am J Dis Child 133:601-602, 1979) SN - 0002-922X M3 - doi: 10.1001/archpedi.1979.02130060041007 UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archpedi.1979.02130060041007 ER -
