N2  - • Infant botulism is a widespread and long-extant infectious disease that was only recently recognized as a distinct entity. By examining the original and, in retrospect, incorrect diagnoses of some of the early cases, this report distinguishes those clinical features that may now permit the correct diagnosis of presently occurring cases. In addition, detailed suggestions for the management of infant botulism, derived from experience with a total of 50 proven hospitalized cases, are presented.(Am J Dis Child 133:586-593, 1979)
