N2  - To the Editor.—The following is an interesting and tragic postscript to one of the families described in my paper (Amer J Dis Child118:565-567 [Oct] 1969).A male infant, brother of case 2, was hospitalized at age 3 months for failure to thrive. Results of physical examination were normal except for head circumference of 43 cm. Skull did not transilluminate. Laboratory examinations and roentgenograms of skull and long bones revealed no abnormalities. At age 6 months he weighed 5.9 kg (13 lb), and was emaciated with little spontaneous activity. There were several house visits by the pediatrician, but residence was changed several times, and appointments were not kept. At age 10 months, the infant was brought in dead, having aspirated vegetables being force fed through the cut end of a nipple.
