Although cystic fibrosis should have been a diagnostic consideration at the time the child was treated in early infancy, her subsequent course makes this diagnosis most unlikely. Her prompt response to parenterally administered vitamin K and the absence of recurrence on a normal infant diet containing adequate amounts of vitamin K certainly do not suggest chronic disease. This patient has been well for two years since her illness. She has had no respiratory or gastrointestinal complaints.Although a sweat test could easily be done, I do not feel that it is indicated at the present time.
