N2  - ATTENTION has recently been directed to the relationship between urinary tract infection and the development of jaundice in young infants.1-6 We have seen 11 infants with this condition over a relatively short time, leading us to the conclusion that such cases are more common than generally believed. Because the presence of jaundice, hepatomegaly, and poor weight gain may lead to the erroneous diagnosis of giant cell hepatitis or biliary atresia, with consequent delay in the institution of urgently required antibiotic therapy, it is important to recognize this syndrome. This report summarizes our experience and reviews the pertinent, recent literature.Report of Cases
