N2  - This slightly enlarged second edition now includes a description of diabetes mellitus and hypoglycemia which had been omitted from the first edition. Essentially, the book remains a highly-outlined form of Dr. Danowski's well-known four-volume textbook on endocrinology.There is a rather alarming paucity of discussion of physiology and pathophysiology, the basic emphasis being on diagnosis and treatment. Discussion of growth both in the pediatric and adolescent age group is given short shrift. Despite an apparent preoccupation with the more esoteric manifestations of endocrinopathy, there is a disappointing lack of discussion of chromosomal abnormalities and intersex.Although the comments above indicate shortcomings, one must evaluate this text in terms of its title. It fulfills this rather admirably and it is unbelievable to see the amount of endocrinology that is covered in a relatively short space. Perhaps the most valuable aspect of the book in addition to its basic content is the
