The contributors represent a competent group of interdisciplinary authorities. The book is divided into five parts. Part 1 and part 2 cover etiology and pathogenesis. There are several brief chapters in each section, each well written and clearly presented. Various aspects of etiology and pathogenesis are considered, eg, "Role of Mucopolysaccharide Synthesis in Embryos With Cleft Palate," "The Carbohydrate Metabolism of Rat Embryos During Teratogenesis," "The Role of Vascular Anomalies in Production of Craniofacial Anomalies," and "Mesodermal Deficiency as a Pathogenic Factor in Facial Anomalies," being but a few of the chapters.Part 3, entitled "Cranial Anomalies," presents many of the rarer or less common developmental deformities, some of which have often been neglected in textbooks.
