Only 16 cases have been reported. Although by definition agenesis1 means complete or almost complete failure of primordium of an organ to develop, Floyd et al,2 in reviewing the cases of agenesis of the trachea, have also included those cases in which there was only atresia of a portion of the trachea with a normal short distal trachea. Association with other major congenital abnormalities has also not been sufficiently stressed in the previous reports. It is the purpose of this report to describe an additional case of tracheal agenesis and to review the literature briefly.Report of a CaseĀ  The female newborn infant was delivered spontaneously by breech presentation by a 21-year-old healthy mother after full-term pregnancy. The pregnancy was uneventful except for an episode of urinary tract infection.
