TY - JOUR T1 - MAximizing the clinical relevance of sexual abstinence–only program evaluations AU - Underhill K, Montgomery P, Operario D Y1 - 2010/07/01 N1 - 10.1001/archpediatrics.2010.119 JO - Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine SP - 679 EP - 697 VL - 164 IS - 7 N2 - The recent evaluation by Jemmott et al1 is a robust contribution to the literature on abstinence-based approaches for preventing sexually transmitted infections. Compared with past studies in our systematic reviews of abstinence-based interventions,2- 3 this trial had remarkable strengths. It was the second trial to evaluate both abstinence-only and comprehensive programs and the first to find a significant long-term benefit of an abstinence-only approach. Its rigorous methods compare favorably with previous studies. SN - 1072-4710 M3 - doi: 10.1001/archpediatrics.2010.119 UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archpediatrics.2010.119 ER -
