It is unfortunate that Gershon Segal, MD, perceived our study to have depicted members of the Section on Pediatric Emergency Medicine in a negative manner. This was certainly not our intent. Study findings and anecdotal comments by the interviewees indicated that members of the Section on Pediatric Emergency Medicine are genuinely concerned about adolescent health care, understand that adolescents may have more medical complications from sexually transmitted diseases than adults, and agree that this age group requires different care. We believe our sampling methodology to be sound and, as we mentioned in the "Comment" section, any systematic respondent bias is unlikely.
