TY - JOUR T1 - PRogress in neurology and psychiatry, 1948. Y1 - 1949/02/01 N1 - 10.1001/archpedi.1949.02030040282016 JO - American Journal of Diseases of Children SP - 273 EP - 274 VL - 77 IS - 2 N2 - This annual review of neurology and psychiatry covers 2,800 papers, with predominant emphasis on neurology. For the pediatrician, the book has limited value because much more attention is given to the problems of adults than to those of children. However, the chapters on mental hygiene, child psychiatry, mental deficiency, the neuroses, psychosomatic medicine, group psychotherapy and psychoanalysis will be of interest and value for the physician working with children. The reviews making up these chapters have been arranged by physicians who are outstanding in their fields. The reviews include descriptive summaries of recent advances in clinical medicine, discussion of trends in the care and investigation of the patient and numerous bibliographic references at the end of each chapter, which alone are worth the price of the book. The book suffers from overcondensation of some of the topics.
