Case records are used to illustrate the different aspects and characteristics of growth. "The book assembles concrete studies of individual differences in the patterning of early behavior development."Part I deals with a group of subjects studied in the Yale Clinic of Child Development and first reported ten years ago. Dr. Gesell reexamined these children. He concluded that the development of most children is predictable during infancy, but in some cases the prognosis made at that time was found to be erroneous. In addition to the case reports there is a summary of the concepts and principles which underlie developmental diagnosis.Part II continues the individual studies of intellectual growth, especially emphasizing the variations of individual characteristics.
