Because of the death of Dr. McCrae, the present edition was edited by Dr. Christian. Probably no one is better qualified to edit such a book single handed. The advantages of a single author or editor are thus maintained in full. Not only has the text been brought thoroughly up to date, but there has been considerable rearrangement of material. The sections on infectious diseases, deficiency diseases and diseases of the blood have been notably revised. Thus, while retaining Osler's style and much of his original material, Christian has succeeded in providing a completely modern edition.
