I would agree that genetics is unlikely to have an ABP subboard, but not because genetics is “a very new clinical focus”; rather, because genetics is a separate specialty and has been a full-member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties since 1991. It is not a subspecialty of pediatrics or any other area of medicine. Genetics has its own residencies, medical board, and certifying process.
