AB Sir.—"Where Have All the Fathers Gone?" by Jeffrey Alexander, MD (Journal 132:1076-1079, 1978), is both timely and intellectually stimulating. However, I am most surprised to not find proper mention of "women's liberation" and/or "feminism" in its corpus. Surely each, or both, of these philosophies should be added to the explanations as to why fathers are either absent from the home or ineffectual when present. They simply have been demoted in respect and importance.
