AB The literal translation of the title of this book is "Urgent Surgical Operations of the Brain, Spinal Cord and Skull in Early Infancy." Hydrocephalus, myelomeningocele, craniostenosis, and subdural hematoma are the main topics for discussion. Spina bifida occulta and diastematomyelia are alluded to, briefly. This book is written by a neurosurgeon who has written extensively on these subjects in other publications. An indication of his experience is that the results of treatment of hydrocephalus are based on 403 cases from his own clinic. The philosophy of treating these various diseases is presented and, as indicated in the title, the author's approach is a vigorous one. On controversial subjects, he refers frequently to other authors and their methods of therapy.
