AB Knowing, as this reviewer did, that this volume contained papers presented at a symposium held on the occasion of a dedication of a new children's hospital and research center for mental retardation (a conference which he was unable to attend), he was prepared to gain in one volume information concerned only with learning problems. To my pleasant surprise, this assumption was far too restrictive. It is a remarkable volume which with excellent editorship brings together a great many interests affecting the child, particularly pointing the direction in which research in child life is rapidly developing. To best illustrate this point I was so impressed as to how the information contained in the volume cut through the entire pediatric department that I gave it department circulation.
