Considering the complexity of medical care today and the number of persons each contributing his own small part to this, a patient has a hard (impossible?) time understanding what it is all about.So You're Going to the Hospital! What Every Patient Should Know purports to do just that. It is clearly written, well indexed, and utterly devoid of humor in its down-to-earth approach. A glossary of medical terms and job descriptions of personnel is unusual and helpful. For someone anticipating an elective admission to the hospital, or for one who likes to be prepared for his actuarially predicted admission, this makes informative reading. If it is made available in hospital lounges and patient room areas, it would be interesting
