AB The classification of infantile cerebral motor diseases is difficult enough without this work, which is a translation from German of a 70-year-old volume written by Freud at a time when he was no longer interested in the subject. I am not sure how infantile cerebral paralysis fits into a modern concept of cerebral palsies (if indeed such a concept exists), and Freud's obscurity in this field is complicated by his failure to define what he is talking about.Undoubtedly it takes much skill to translate a German work into a satisfactory American form. Dr. Russin says that he has been "gentle" with the work, and indicates that it was no mean task to do it fairly. Unfortunately, the expressions that emerge are often incomprehensible or at best vague. One wonders if it would have been translated at all if the author had been anyone other than Freud.
