AB The editors of this collection of essays state that "the authors have been asked only to discuss matters which they consider to be important and in which they have special interest, since we believe that a text-book which tries to cover its subjects completely often loses more in authority than it gains in comprehensiveness." This is excellent advice. It should be followed by everyone who contributes to the inflated load of medical writing with which we are struggling in this age of research and pseudoresearch.
