One such opportunity comes from comparing the current study with an earlier one conducted by the same authors in the same study population.3 In the prior study, youth assigned to a safer-sex intervention reported reduced sexual risk behavior at 3-, 6-, and 12-month follow-up. Youth in an abstinence intervention were less likely to report recent sexual activity relative to a control group only at 3-month follow-up.
