RT Journal A1 Versteeg KM, Knopf JM, Posluszny S, Vockell AB, Britto MT T1 Teenagers wanting medical advice: Is myspace the answer? JF Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine JO Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine YR 2009 FD January 5 VO 163 IS 1 SP 91 OP 92 DO 10.1001/archpediatrics.2008.503 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archpediatrics.2008.503 AB Roughly 55% of Internet-using teenagers visit social networking sites (eg, MySpace and Facebook).1 Many join health-related interest groups, which are often unmonitored. This poses a possible threat, because adolescents use the Internet as a primary source of health information2 and may be unable to judge Web sites' reliability and accuracy. Because social networking sites are relatively new, little research examines their use and influence. This study describes the content of asthma-related interest groups on MySpace.
