RT Journal A1 Gordon RA T1 TReatment of acute lead encephalopathy—reply JF Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine JO Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine YR 1999 FD November 1 VO 153 IS 11 SP 1202 OP 1202 DO UL http://dx.doi.org/ AB I am writing in response to Dr Campbell's question regarding the monitoring of our patient during her hospital stay.1 We did in fact monitor both renal and hepatic functions. We kept laboratory monitoring to a minimum, as she was severly anemic on admission. We evaluated hepatic functions at the beginning of treatment and at the end of her third treatment course. We followed her serum chemistry studies and renal functions closely to help us aggressively manage fluid and electrolyte abnormalities. Fortunately for our patient, no abnormalities were noted and her hospital course was uneventful.
