A variety of authors from many US centers of pediatric cardiology have contributed to this book. It begins with a historical perspective of congenital heart diseases, surgery and interventions, and perspectives of the start and continuation of the Pediatric Cardiac Care Consortium. The text is then divided into diagnoses and includes a bit of natural history plus pathophysiology, as well as discussing the surgical and/or interventional treatments and outcome data. It also provides good descriptions of the various defects and surgical and interventional approaches. A good perspective is provided regarding the overall results of various participating centers and illustrates the value of collaborative investigations and data collections to sort out outcomes of the quality of surgical, interventional, and transplantation care.
