It has been contended that the anaphylactic state induced in the experimental animal solely through a parenteral introduction of antigen gives rise to an acute violent reaction which is not comparable to the usually sublethal allergic state in a human being. Consequently, in the study of allergic asthma investigators were actuated to devise modifications of the anaphylaxis test which would be more consonant with conditions in the human subject.
