JF American Journal of Diseases of Children JO American Journal of Diseases of Children YR 1939 FD July 1 VO 58 IS 1 SP 229 OP 229 DO 10.1001/archpedi.1939.01990070241023 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archpedi.1939.01990070241023 AB This is a concise but adequate presentation of the subject of tuberculosis of the lungs in both adults and children, including pathogenesis, immunobiology, evolution, pathology, biologic and morphologic interpretation and finally clinical aspects. In the section on tuberculosis of children the important and somewhat controversial subject of the so-called primary childhood type of infection is thoroughly discussed, and a temperate, well considered conclusion is reached. It is in childhood that tuberculin testing finds its greatest applicability, and the rationale and methods are adequately presented. In the description of clinical characteristics the illustrative short case history is frequently used effectively to link theory with practice. The roentgenograms, charts and photographs are excellent. This book is one of the best authoritative presentations available.
