Although the latter type of chest appears flat, it is in reality deep. Conversely, the broad, flat chest is normal. The author also attempts to correlate the deep, narrow chest with the childhood type of tuberculous infection. So many other factors than the shape of the chest must be considered, however, that his conclusions in this respect are not impressive.
