The second edition of Epilepsy in Children is part of the recognized International Review of Child Neurology series. The need for a second edition has arisen because of progress in epilepsy research, clinical diagnosis, and management since the first edition was published in 1986. Almost all chapters have been revised, some substantially.
The book is divided into 4 parts. The first part covers general information about seizures, including the most common definitions that are essential to understanding the subsequent chapters and classification of epileptic seizures and epilepsies. The second part describes electroclinical features and management of the major types of epileptic seizures, epileptic syndromes, and their variants. One of the chapters is about controversial syndromes of acquired aphasia with seizure disorder (eg, LandauKleffner syndrome). The third part deals with epileptic manifestations in relation to age, course, duration, and precipitation of seizures; neonatal seizures, febrile convulsions, and convulsive and nonconvulsive status
