ABSTRACT

Community Child Health:  An Action Plan for Today is concerned with the ills of child health today. The author attempts to create a plan for providing high-quality care for the children of our society. To accomplish this, the book is divided into 3 parts, successively describing the present status, the currently active community services, and a proposal for action.In part 1, "Where in the World Are the Children?" has as its premise that the 'transactional' model of health is now so well-established that for the child health discipline not to involve itself with the community would be as if the infectious disease field did not concern itself with bacteria and viruses.This is an ambitious comparison, leading to the concept that the community must be strengthened to promote children's health but also suggesting that child health professionals have not been involved until now.The place of children in society
