This volume contains a collection of papers presented in 1992. A great deal of useful information contained within is also available elsewhere in scattered places. In addition to the topics one would expect from the title, there is a very valuable section on smoking, with useful information I had not seen before. The chapter on salt intake and its effects on blood pressure reflects the (admitted) bias of the authors and therefore is a bit unbalanced in presenting contrary views.
The method of the presentation makes the volume unsuitable for individual practitioners, although those working in the field should find this compendium useful for at least a few years. Departmental libraries should also have a copy.
