Jody Trucks has stated:

Discipline is the main thing you learn in sports. You get in there and you do what needs to be done, you practice one more hour, you play one more game, whether you feel like it or not. And having the busy schedule you have in athletics, you learn how to make the most of your time. There are limits both in athletics and in the real world. In athletics you learn how far you can push yourself physically.

Probably the most lasting thing Jody says she has learned in her athletic career is flexibility: "Things can change so quickly, so easily, and you've got to be flexible and roll with them."

So who is this sage person? I met Jody Trucks at Kiawah Island, SC. She was a tennis-teaching professional who played some very good doubles in spite of wearing a peculiar brace on her ankle.
