Ben was born in 1946 and educated at Wabash College, Crawfordsville, Ind; Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis; Duke University, Durham, NC (residency); and University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston (fellowship in nephrology and diabetes). He is currently professor of pediatrics and associate director of the Divisions of Nephrology and Diabetes at Galveston. Ben is one of our hardest-working board members; his reviews are always prompt, detailed, and competent. His interests range from renal disease through fluid and electrolyte homeostasis and disturbances to all aspects of juvenile diabetes. He has authored 62 original articles and made numerous other written and oral contributions. He is married to Julia Brouhard and they have one child, Katie.
