ABSTRACT

Dr Ray E. Helfer has resigned reluctantly from his position as Associate Editor of AJDC. He does so because of two new positions he has assumed recently. First, he has become the Associate Dean for Preclinical Curriculum and Student Programs at Michigan State University, East Lansing, in which capacity he will be responsible for development, coordination, and oversight of the first two years of the medical curriculum, among other duties. Second, he has been named as Editor in Chief of Child Abuse and Neglect: The International Journal, succeeding C. Henry Kempe, MD, deceased. All of us at AJDC and American Medical Association Scientific Publications wish him well in these new and important endeavors.

We will miss Ray's enthusiasm, trenchant critiques, energy, creativity, and plain hard work. In the past two years he has helped to shape and implement editorial policy, has served as a prompt and faithful reviewer, and
