ABSTRACT

In the preface to this delightful addition to the pediatric literature, Tunnessen states that the book was designed to help in the retrieval of stored bits of information from the cerebral recesses. For each particular sign or symptom, Tunnessen has listed diagnostic possibilities, as well as a brief description of the signs and/or symptoms seen in each one. He has accomplished his goal extremely well. The lists are comprehensive. The diagnoses include both common and rare conditions.

The typesetting of the book, with liberal use of boldface, makes the text extremely easy to use. During a period of several weeks, I chose to look in the index for several difficult differential diagnostic problems that had been referred to my medical center and was extremely pleased to find the excellent cross-referencing.
