A New Look—A New Format

This issue of the Journal looks different because it is. We are now modifying the departments to reflect partially some of the new directions we are taking. The shading of tables is not merely cosmetic, it also emphasizes the data they contain, thus calling the reader's attention to the major facts of an article—the author's findings.

We also introduce two new departments: From Research to Relevance and Educational Interventions. I have asked James J. Corrigan, Jr, MD, and Ray E. Helfer, MD, who will lead the effort in each of these departments, to state their purpose and to describe their characteristics.

There are other changes in the planning stages. We will introduce them as they become operational. Your comments and suggestions are welcome.
