This book is edited by Dr Juchau, a well-known developmental pharmacologist, who is respected for his contributions in this field. Dr Juchau sets the stage in the preface to the book by somewhat contradicting the title when he states, "This book will serve to inform students and researchers regarding our current understanding and, particularly, lack of understanding of biochemical mechanisms whereby various chemicals and drugs elicit altered morphogenesis." The book is a scholarly treatise on the many aspects of biochemical and pharmacologic teratogenesis. As Dr Juchau points out in the preface, there are no breakthroughs or revolutionary concepts put forth in this book regarding the mechanisms of teratogenesis. On the other hand, this scholarly treatise does delve in detail into the literature and records advances that have been made in recent years in the field of developmental pharmacology, toxicology, and teratology. The bibliographies at the end of each chapter would
