Sir.—In the April issue of the Journal (134:356-358, 1980), Drs Vogel and Boyer presented "two cases of Lemierre's postanginal septicemia" and an excellent summary of this disease. However, at least one author, Reuben,1 published an article on postanginal sepsis prior to the Lemierre article cited. I do not know if Dr Reuben was the first to describe postanginal sepsis (nor do I know his preference of sandwiches) but I am curious as to the reason for designating
