This manual has been prepared by Dr Roberts with the collaboration of nine other physicians, who represent the academic and practicing pediatricians, mostly from the Baltimore area. It contains concise descriptions of about 100 of the most important clinical problems in pediatrics, covering the general topics of emergencies; the neonate; cardiovascular disorders; gastrointestinal disorders; renal, fluid, and electrolyte disorders; endocrine, metabolic, and genetic disorders; nutrition; neuromuscular disorders; autoimmune disorders; hematologic disorders; neoplastic disorders; and, immunity and infectious diseases. The book is not a comprehensive pediatric textbook covering different aspects of child care in health and disease and should not be considered sufficient by itself for a brief review of pediatrics, but rather as a supplement to the existing works.
