This relatively new series of small volumes provides an opportunity for an exchange of ideas and experiences in greater detail than is possible in the standard pediatric and surgical periodicals. Volume 6 (Biliary Atresia and Choledochal Cyst) included important articles from Japanese sources, in English, that are otherwise unavailable to the American reader. Volume 10 addressed a topic of increasing interest, "Long-Term Surgical Results in Children." This current volume will be of interest to pediatric surgeons, gastroenterologists, and perhaps, a medical historian or two.
Judging this book by its title may lead to dismay. The volume contains 15 articles on a variety of topics, but less than one third of the space is devoted to ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
