ABSTRACT

Frog and Toad Are Friends, by Arnold Lobel (Harper, 1970). Frog and Toad exhibit complimentary personalities and loyal friendship in stories children love hearing or rereading themselves. Ages 4 to 8.

Little Fox Goes to the End of the World, by Ann Tompert (Crown, 1976). Little Fox prepares for all the frightening things she might encounter when she travels to the end of the world. Ages 3 to 7.

Strega Nona, by Tomie DePaola (Prentice-Hall, 1975). The magic pot tale with a new setting, comical characters, and warm illustrations. Ages 4 to 8.

Nora and Mrs. Mind-Your-Own-Business, by Johanna Hurwitz (Morrow, 1977). Warm family stories set in New York City comprise this sequel to Busybody Nora. Ages 5 to 8.

Walk Home Tired, Billy Jenkins, by Ianthe Thomas (Harper, 1974). This beautiful brother and sister story poetically shows two black children walking home on city streets. Ages 3 to 7.
