Even a 1-year-old becomes interested in the act of looking at books from watching people read books, magazines, or newspapers. An outdated Sears Roebuck catalog or the S & H Green Stamp catalog, which have pictures familiar to a baby's world, are fine for those first experiences in turning pages.
