This book is a concise survey of the neurosurgical aspects of neurologic disease in children. It deals with the anticipated topics—tumors, infections, head injuries, hydrocephalus, subdural effusions, craniosynostosis, and spinal dysraphism. These are all well handled, and I believe pediatricians will find the discussion of the management of the common problem of head injury especially helpful. The section on miscellaneous problems, which covers a number of random topics quite superficially, does not add very much. The random approach of including a brief paragraph on petit mal sandwiched between an equally brief discussion of meningitis and achondroplasia exemplifies the basis for my comment.
The illustrative neuroradiology is of very high quality indeed, and there is, in addition, an excellent brief presentation of neuroradiology of the childhood in a fine chapter by Dr R. D. Hoare.
