ABSTRACT

Once again, Annual Progress in Child Psychiatry and Child Development has maintained its high standard as a reliable and excellent source of current information for those professionals interested in all aspects of child behavior and development.

The pediatrician should not believe that the title indicates that this annual has only peripheral relevance to the field of pediatrics. On the contrary, this annual is and will be of ever greater relevance as the practice of pediatrics is further altered by the control of infectious and communicable diseases and the early detection and treatment of congenital disorders. Volume 7 of this series consists of twelve major sections that include 37 articles. A new and valuable addition to this volume is the editors' introduction of each major section in which brief but helpful overviews of the important aspects of the articles in the section are given.
