This book is a most welcome addition to our reference libraries and is highly recommended to all pediatricians with even the most remote interest in renal development and its abnormalities. The book is the "sequitur" to the meticulous papers by Edith Potter and her student, Vitoon Osathanondh, MD. Their exemplary microdissections of developing kidneys and those with various types of cystic disease are well known and form the basis for the widely accepted nomenclature of types I through IV renal cystic disease.
The book is divided into two principal parts, normal and abnormal development. The former comprises about one fourth of the volume and traces in great detail all there is to the macroscopic, but particularly microscopic, nephrogenesis. It is richly illustrated and supplemented with injection preparations, dissection studies, and clear diagrams.
