A woman with idiopathic narcolepsy of long duration was treated with large doses of dextroamphetamine sulfate throughout pregnancy. A normal girl was delivered without signs of amphetamine intoxication; she is alive and well at 18 months of age. No toxic effects or malformations have been observed in the infant. A brief discussion of the literature pertaining to amphetamine teratogenesis is presented.
