To the Editor.—I appreciate the corrections made by Dr. Behrman and concur with them. The concentration of gamma benzene hexachloride should have been 1.0%, not 10.0%, as was stated in the article "Scabies in Babies." The error occurred in the typing of my original manuscript.
As noted by Dr. Behrman, the fungicide responsible for the porphyria epidemic is hexachlorobenzene (C6Cl6), not the pediculicide lindane used in the treatment of scabies, hexachlorocyclohexane or gamma benzene hexachloride (C6H6Cl6). The similarity of the two chemicals often creates confusion and the corrent indentification should be brought to the attention of your readers.
