Three separate attacks of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia occurred in a child with congenital hypogammaglobulinemia. Each attack was documented by demonstration of the organism in material obtained from the patient's lungs. The data in this case suggest that the recurrence was due to the latent parasitism rather than reinfection.
