ABSTRACT

Dr. Nadas has been joined by Dr. Fyler in the revision of his book. This is the third edition, published nine years since the second, and 15 years after the first. In the preface to the edition, Dr. Nadas, a recognized superb teacher of pediatric cardiology, acknowledges the difficulty in competing with large books composed by many expert authors. In his words his book offers "one way of coping" with a specific clinical situation rather than a complexity of options suggested by a variety of authors. Thus, this book is based on the broad experience of the authors with acknowledge assistance from the supporting physician-specialists of their home institution. The format of the book has not been changed. The purpose of the new edition was to incorporate the scientific advances that have accrued since the second edition.
