Clinical History.—ThisThis 7-year-old girl was referred to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles by a school physician for evaluation of obesity and short extremities. She has always been chubby and in the past two to three years the mother had noticed that the girl's arms appeared short. The mother's arms are also short. However, the patient has not had any serious illness and she is normally active. She does average work in school. There isn't any unusual facial or body hair growth but she does prefer cold weather to hot weather. There are three siblings who are of normal height and weight. The mother is 153.67 cm (5 ft ½ in) tall and the father 167.64 cm (5 ft 6 in) tall. There is no other significant history.
