The International Children's Centre sponsored a Seminar on Viral Hepatitis which was held in Paris, June 14-16, 1971. The proceedings of this conference are published in this issue of the American Journal of Diseases of Children.
The impact of the discovery of Australia antigen and its association with viral hepatitis was highlighted during the course of the conference. The reader of these proceedings will encounter the following terms and abbreviations which are synonymous with Australia antigen (Au) or antibody (anti-Au): hepatitis B antigen (HB Ag), hepatitis B antibody (HB Ab), Au/SH antigen, SH antigen, hepatitis antigen (HA), hepatitis-associated antigen (HAA), and hepatitis-associated antibody (anti-HAA).
